Ansible for DevOps: Server and configuration management for humans
Author Jeff Geerling
Rating 4.0
Categories devops ansible programming book
Date Started 01 July 2023
Jeff is an excelent writer on the topic and does a great job explaining a complex topic in human terms. I would like to delve a little deep into a topic and unfortunatly Jeff didn't get into the details as much as I would have liked. That said I would highly recommend this to anyone starting thier Ansible journey or even if you've been at it awhile. I'm sure you will learn something from this.
Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win
Author Jocko Willink
Rating 4.0
Categories leadership growth book
Date Started 01 January 2021
Seriously, what do I need to say about leadership and teaching it compared to these people? The lessons they teach are timeless but are not common. This will help with communication, timing, perspective and more. This is a complimentary book to (Simon Snick's Leader's Eat Last)[https://amzn.to/48AOu4X] - I believe they are the different sides of the same coin.
Fantastic Numbers and Where to Find Them
Author Antonio Padilla
Rating 3.5
Categories mathematics nonfiction physics science book
Date Started 01 November 2023
This book is interesting and certainly provides a different perspective while highlighting new and interesting ways to horribly die via 'black-hole-head-death' and such. Antonio takes a complicated topic of large numbers and how they apply to physics and makes it accessible to the layman in an interesting and comedic way. I would recommend this to anyone that is interested in the topics but doesn't want a heavy read.
Leaders Eat Last: Why Some Teams Pull Together and Others Don't
Author Simon Sinek
Rating 4.5
Categories leadership book
Date Started 01 July 2015
It's been awhile since I've read this book, but I remember it being a great read and really helped update my thinking on leadership. I've been a fan of Simon Sinek since I first saw his TED talk on "Start with Why" and this book is a great follow up to that talk. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is in a leadership position or wants to be in a leadership position.
